Since our children usually make Mom a gift in public school and often in Church School, consider expanding your Mother's Day celebration by adopting an extra mother for the day. Have your family choose someone who's a parent but doesn't have children living nearby, or someone without children who's been like a parent to your kids, and invite that person over to share the day with you. Bring her to Liturgy with you, then treat her with the same gifts and honors you give to the mom in your home.
